Henry Welsh tried to urge his horse across the Pennsylvania tracks when a fast express train struck the wagon. The impact killed Welsh, his wife, and Alice Swartz in Lascaster Pennsylvania on July 27.
In Micon Georgia on Sunday Samuel Clifton was killed by Sampson Cason at County Line Church after a lasting feud from 1881 when Clifton whipped Cason. Cason stabbed Clifton near a spring the chest exposed his heart and then rode away shouting a crude remark.

Liverpool July 27 The American consul appointed a doctor to inspect the passengers and cargoes bound for the United States and he sent to Washington a statement of a shipment to Boston of rags from Egypt.

A U S detective with Pittsburg officers arrested John P Gordon Robert McGreary Albert Crozon and John P Buck near St John Run WVa. They belong to a gang that has operated in Pennsylvania Maryland and West Virginia for several months.
In Ellen Grove Kentucky on July 26 John McDougal white and Daniel Wilkes colored farmhands settled a quarrel with pitchforks. Wilkes used a long-handled two-pronged fork while McDougal wielded a short-handled four-pronged fork. They fought alone and cannot describe the contest. Both are likely to die.
Eugene A. Clark of Naugatuck Conn. confessed to tarring and feathering Mrs. Johanna Sullivan and driving her from Sandisfield Mass. He implicated men named White and Sackett who were tried but juries disagreed. Grand jury indicted them as principals with several others as accessories. All placed under bonds.
Joliet Illinois reports over 100 people poisoned by ice cream at a church social with several in critical condition. Milwaukee and Philadelphia note severe thunderstorm damage and a drowning after a fall from a ship. Jersey City describes a freight train collision on the Bergen Hill cut causing engine and car wreckage with $20,000 loss and minor injuries.
Mary Ann Kea sham, a housekeeper for Henry Porth, was found dead in the kitchen. Matthew Winn and his wife, kept apart by jealousy, have conflicts. Winn says his wife poisoned Mrs Kersham. She was at his house this morning and was cast out. Investigation underway.
The President plans a Saturday return and will attend the Louisville exposition starting August first with Secretary Folger joining him for the Louisville and Chicago events. Special Agent Townsend reports some Seneca Indians sold votes for small sums, but the department may not void the election.
