Pinkerton Dead The Great Detective Passes Away
Alen Pinkerton dies at 44 West Adams Street at 3 05 PM on Wednesday after a long illness. Funeral held at Grace Land where his family and employees are buried. Born in Glasgow Scotland he came to America in 1847 and rose to fame breaking horse theft rings and counterfeit rings. He escorted Lincoln through Baltimore and fought the Molly Maguires in Pennsylvania. His career included arrests of Augustu Stuart Byron and a man claiming Napier kin, with many charges against gangs in Michigan Missouri and Indiana.

In New York on July 2, Chief Justice Ramon Barrento of Cuba and his party, including Francisco Figueras and Santiago Barrento, clashed at Jefferson Market Court over loud Spanish language. Judge O Reilly fined Barrento and Figueras ten dollars each for breach of the peace. The men paid and left arm in arm, while the ladies were absent.

Two Trains on the Same Track Near Cunningham
