Seven cars separated and derailed into the following section, smashing cars, killing six including the conductor and brakeman, and injuring several passengers and crew. Names of the dead and wounded include Hobert Cletiens, George Quinn, S. N. Tolles, Argello Adawno, S. J. McKee, M. Downs, and others with injuries ranging from scalp wounds to broken bones.

In Annville Pennsylvania on June 20 authorities report systematic library thefts at Lebanon Valley College. Four large canes discovered at the depot contain a missing book. A student named Shields, sent to study for the ministry, owned the crates and had directed shipment to Tennessee. He will be asked for explanations.
In Mawavxze June 80 a farmer’s wagon drawn by horses was spooked by a marching schoolchildren procession. The frightened team charged through spectators injuring many. One schoolgirl died and Mr Schmitt and Mrs Engle were fatally injured while Mrs Engle saved several children.
W. C. Elam, wounded in a duel with Beirne near Waynesboro, is at Lieut. Gov. Lewis’s home in Harkinsboro county awaiting recovery. The ball was lodged in the inner left hip. if no blood poisoning develops he is expected to recover. Beirne remains in Richmond. Elam’s wife joined him today. D. S. A catamaran named the Straa maker, carrying thirty passengers, capsized during a rush to one side. Victims include Harvester Company employees and a dining-room girl from St James. Miss Maloney from Crittenden. About four deaths confirmed and many residents gathered as an inquest by Coroner Tozier awaits tomorrow.
In New York Central Labor Union meeting a motion to invite Benjamin F. Butler as grand marshal or orator for September 15 parade and picnic is defeated after rulings that he is not a labor representative and is a politician. Delegates debate his standing as labor or capitalist, and the issue is laid on the table. In St Louis the river falls six to eight inches daily, land appears in East St Louis, Brooklyn, and Venice, and river bottoms dry as the water recedes.
Special report from Ricnswosp Virginia dated July 2 states Elam is in critical condition after a ball struck his right hip, passed inward and downward, lodged in the left thigh near the bladder. Local medical staff monitor his status as details await confirmation.
Special to the Associated Press reports that two men convicted of selling tickets to a bogus picnic were sentenced to two years in the penitentiary. The July 2 sentencing follows their fraud case and marks a formal end to the scam.
In Suffocated by black damp at a Lackawanna County well two men and two others succumbed to gas. John Nolcott fell in while looking for a TeagoU and never regained consciousness. McCowan and Barnes, who went to help, were overcome as well.
A string of incidents across several states reports fires at a shoe factory in South Abington Massachusetts causing estimated losses around 175000, a fatal shooting near Dallas by a divorced wife, a cracker factory blaze at Goldsmith and Winter with adjoining burning house, and other fires. In Atchison Kansas twenty buildings burned in Cottonwood Falls with unknown losses, Oswego detail of a man named Atwood shot Justice Parker in Granby, Madison Indiana river tragedy with a family drowned, and Pryor found dead in a High Street home with coroner investigation ordered.
A man named John Chambers aged twenty was arrested for rape of Minnie Ryan age five in Troy My. In Brooklyn Agnes Wynne aged nineteen shot by husband, he intoxicated and threatened to kill, Wynne arrested. Pawtucket Arcade building fire destroys dozen adjoining buildings including Dexter Yarn Company mill and storehouse, suspected incendiary origin.
A chaotic city incident in Mavéviteg Cal July 2 ends with Mayor Martin fatally shot after a raid by Dick Baker described as a cheaperade. Police report Baker fired first but the mayor returned fire and killed him. The event appalled residents and drew swift investigations.
Special Dispatch reports Abram Coppernoll, a farmer, was shot dead by Jim French, a farm laborer, yesterday. French is suspected of an affair with Coppernoll's wife, and authorities pursue him. The incident occurred on the Coppernoll farm, Avaurs N. .
Special dispatch from Paul Minnesota reports an affidavit accusing Rev Father Tomazin of wrongful relations with his housekeeper. Inspector Gardner ordered Tomazin to White Earth. he refused, and police moved to seize him. Reports say 23 Red Lake Indians side with the priest, raising fears of trouble.
Probabilities indicate light rain and partly cloudy skies with southwest to northwest winds. Eastern portion shows slight temperature rise while western area experiences stationary or slight fall in temperature.
