Many beneficiaries are Poles amid a large need in Bradford, where hundreds lack bare necessities due to business downturn and unemployment. Local churches and groups aid the destitute, but funds and relief are stretched thin. In Central Avenue a pair of prowlers looked into several homes last Saturday night, stealing only a child’s sled after it broke and alerting a servant who caused their escape before the police were notified.
