The Erie Store offers a large, cheap assortment of fancy goods, millinery, and toys in the city. Special bargains are offered during the season, including a new supply of Jersey capes at 5 cents each in wool and knit.
At Madame Norths No 116 Norton Street a man and woman were found dead after a violent scene. Thomas Bostwick, once a saloon-keeper, killed Mamie Gue, then stabbed and shot himself. Letters link the tragedy to a stolen sum and elopement. Mamie Gue, about 25, originated in Mount Sterling Illinois.
A proposed measure would strike all constitutional references to liquor traffic from Schedule 18, leaving licensing, taxation, and prohibition to the legislature. The House also backed submitting a constitutional amendment to move state elections from October to November. In Ottawa, a brewer and distiller indemnity proposal was defeated 105 to 14.
