Erie Store advertises elegant laces and embroidery in latest patterns, fae perfumery, Toil et Soaps and hair brushes plus cheap stationery. Hair seats in all sizes from 13c, new line of baby buggies at astonishingly low prices, plus Jersey caps offered.
Fires swept through the main building of French saccoua and French baking powder manufactory in New York. The entire structure burned, neighboring houses saved with great effort. Loss listed at 9,000 for G. W. Newman building and 85,000 for French Palmer French, with 22,000 insured. W. B. Hill's upper floor space also damaged and insured for 3,000. Thirty men unemployed.
The Senate adopted a federation honoring Senator Sewyer of Connecticut and placing a bust on a pedestal in the Vice President's room. Bills passed include removing political disabilities of Gardner and Montgomery of Georgia and Alexander W. of Virginia. Debates covered court questions, land seizure proposals, naval funding, and amendments, with votes on various provisions and committee paths noted.
The Eastern New York Beekeepers Association held its closing session in Alpany on February 20 electing Soloman Vrooman as President with T Pierce as Vice President EW Philoas as Secretary and H W Gar as Treasurer. The group favored freight shipment of honey over express and praised Alsike clover as feed for stock. A cross between the Teale and Black produced the best race.

A devastating blaze in a five story brick building at 119 Chestnut Street, Pierpont's, destroyed wool and yarn stocks, killed laborer John McKay, and injured several others. The fire spread to adjacent stores, including Tyvine & Co and George H. McFadden & Co, with walls collapsing and crowds dispersing as rockets and candles illuminated Second Street.
