Chester Creek flooding damages Lenni mill and trestle, disrupting rail traffic and flooding Lenni to Upland streets.
In Brazin Indiana a boiler exploded at the Central Iron and Nail works tearing through the puddling turnacea. Four men were buried and killed, including Mahler Barker watchman and Bob Davis rollcal. James Biller and Brock the puddier also died. Lewis Miller from Newark and Thomas Kennedy from Trenton along with James Rogers from Janesville were seriously injured. Property damage estimated at $15,000.
Major Steinberg of the U S A reports experiments at John Hopkinson University showing steam disinfection outperforms sulfuric acid gas against cholera and smallpox germs in treated rag samples. Inoculated rabbits exposed to acid-gas germs died, while those exposed to steam germs showed no harm.
