Earthquake shock rocks England from south to north

An April 22 earthquake spread from the south to the north of England, shaking Ipswich Colchester Chelmsford and Southend. Buildings chimneys and church spires were damaged, with scenes of panic and alarms across numerous towns. The Glabe reports the shock reached Strand London and caused widespread unease.

Fiery Elopement Ends in Box Car Marriage

Maranati Texas April 22 Miss Maude Manning daughter of Chief Justice Manning of Louisiana and G W Compton eloped from Alexandria and were married by Nev Marshall at his residence on Saturday night. An irate mother and two men pursued them but the couple dodged capture by changing cars three times before being caught and locked in a box car on a freight train and brought to the city to learn they were man and wife.
