Price of Stocks and French Threats Highlight British Defenses
The Evening Mail outlines stock prices at one o clock with a focus on 3 per cent, and argues that French Directory measures aim to fill its public purse. It warns of invasions, seizures of English goods, and rising smuggling as France seeks money, urging Navy, Army, merchants, and landowners to unite for Britain's independence. It reports dispatches from Florence and Vienna, a Parisian plan discussed by Sané and Guignan, and notes on English reactions and upcoming events.
