Wolsey Farmer Gustave Scheel Dies After Illness
Gustave H. Scheel, 78, died near Wolsey after a six week illness. Born in Germany September 1, 1855, he immigrated to the United States in 1872 and lived in New York, Wisconsin, and Iowa before homesteading in Alpena township, Garvald county, Dakota Territory in 1882. He married Marie Seliz in Alpena in 1882 and lived on his prairie farm in Dearborn township, Beadle County, until his death at his son Carl W. Scheel’s home southeast of Wolsey. He had been ill about six weeks.
