Indian Memorial Dedicated Near Mobridge
A 30 foot monument honoring Sakakawea, the Indian Atle Woman, will be dedicated Friday four miles west of Mobridge in Carson county. The $1,250 shaft, sponsored by the Hickory Stick club educators’ society of northern South Dakota, sits at the fork of the Yellowstone and Blacktail trails. A 3:14 PM procession will include sixteen floats from towns and schools, with a parade led by the Mobridge Nish school band.
