Pheasant Tag Licensing Issued by Deputy Wardens

Pierre September 23. Pheasant shipping tags will be issued this fall by all deputy game wardens and by the state game and fish department. Tags cost 25 cents each, sold only in packs of five or ten, with a ten tag limit per person. Applicants must present a combined hunter and angler license showing a sale record. Motorists Kill Big Badger Near Brookings

Brookings September 23 Two Brookings men George Johnsrud and Robert Prosser killed a large badger on the highway between Midway and Brookings. The animal, noted for size, was mounted and destined for South Dakota State College museum in the entomology department.

Madison Boy Scouts to Hold Court of Honor

Madison scouts will attend a Court of Honor in Madison on September 30. Merit badges earned during the year will be awarded to eligible Madison Boy Scouts including a member who traveled from South Dakota for the international Boy Scout Jamboree in England.

Sweet Clover Raisers Well Paid In Kingsbury

Kingsbury farmers report sweet clover as a profitable crop this year with prices around five cents for the dwarf variety and about five and a quarter cents for the large white. Several carloads shipped this fall with more expected. Corn frost impact varied by maturity and later plantings saw slight damage. Aberdeen Builds A Surge In City Shopping Centers

Aberdeen plans a $213000 building program this year driven by seven chain stores offering merchandise from five cents to one dollar. Miller Circuit Court Fines Deuhr for Liquor Charge

In Miller Circuit Court Judge Frank R. Fisher fined Charles Deuhr 325 dollars plus costs and sentenced him to 30 days in jail. Deuhr pleaded guilty to a liquor charge. Chauncey Sisk also pleaded guilty with sentence deferred until November 1.

Cavour Farmer Buys Blaisdell Farm for 65

Cavour Sept 2 Herman Mueller a prosperous farmer living a mile south of Cavour has purchased the Sern of G N Blaisdell two miles north of Cavour. Mgr Moeller bought land west of the Blaisdell farm last year and with the new addition will have another fine farm. A full set of buildings is to be erected. The consideration of the purchase is said to have been around 35 yer.

50 Year Old De Smet School To Be Razed

Kingsbury county pioneer school houses to be torn down after nearly 50 years of service. A modern 4 by 4 type building will replace it in the Lailleury district to accommodate 25 pupils with west facing windows and east facing lighting.
