Eve and Dick’s strained Christmas separation deepens
Eve Bayless plans to join Dick in Pine Forest but stays at Bixby’s to keep her job and debts. Dick endures harsh winter work in the Adirondacks while Eve’s holiday letter to him is burned. Their silent distance grows as she packs gifts and contemplates joining him, yet Christmas finds him lonely and seeking company from Miss McElhinney and old theater friends.
