Pierre Legion corps to broadcast from WENR radio
Pierre South Dakota, Sept 20. The American Legion bagpipe drum and bugle corps from Pierre, the department champions for two years, will broadcast on WENR Chicago Sunday night October 29 between 10 30 and 10 45 p m central standard time. The program includes a five minute talk by L Morrison, special bagpipe arrangements, and numbers by the entire drum corps. The Pierre delegation heads for the national convention at Louisville, with special cars leaving Sept 25 and arriving in Chicago Sept 29 for the train to Louisville.

Mellette Teachers And Parents Reception At Church
In Mullette on Sept 20 a teacher parent reception was held at the Community Federated Church. The program featured readings and music with community singing, vocal solos and quartets. Speakers included Mrs. Seymour and Mrs. Haddow, and a supper was served in the church basement. Toasts were given by Don Cheatham and F A Howe among others.

A rich oil strike was reported in the east Mule Creek field in Wyoming about 45 miles west of here. Cementing operations were underway with deeper drilling planned. Unofficial estimates put daily production from 0 to 250 barrels. The field has yielded about $10,000,000 from 40 shallow wells in the past decade, and lies within ten miles of wells at Barker and Provo structures near the South Dakota line, in Yat River county.
