He noted Britain’s prejudice against compulsion and claimed as exchequer head he cut operating losses, helping prisons close. He doubted Labour’s long stay in power unless policies shift.

Federal agents raided the Das Deutsche Haus in Detroit finding 15 gallons of wine and 46 half-barrels of draught beer. Martin Kahlfuss, dining room manager, was arrested for violating the prohibition law. This raid marks the fourth time Das Deutsche Haus has been raided since opening April 3, 1927.
