Wheat acreage to rise as farmers heed price signals
The August wheat outlook from the U.S. Bureau of Agricultural Economics says 81 million acres could yield about 890 million bushels with average yields. Exports are expected to rise due to low world stocks, but 1936 outlook may dampen prices and farmers’ income in 1938 if world demand does not improve. Carryover stocks and world production revisions also factor in.
