Start Work On Farm Dwellings Near Sioux Falls
Sioux Falls, Oct 31. Actual construction of farm dwellings and other buildings in the government rehabilitation plan here will begin within a week or 10 days. Surveyors are laying out 5 to 10 acre farms and a work division will handle construction. Options on about 25,000 acres were turned to A M Eberle of Brookings, with deeds expected for a canning plant west of the city and over 600 nearby acres. Traxler said three more rehabilitation projects may follow in Brookings Wakonde Center ville Rapid City, totaling about 1,006 homes in the state. The Belle Fourche project was abandoned due to high land costs. Land near Sioux Falls now averages about 50 per acre after real estate cooperation. The old packing plant sold for 25,000. Farms target suitable workers, selected by the state rehabilitation board with county social workers. Homes to be modern, four to eight rooms, baths, kitchens, and water. Five acre plots near the city, larger tracts farther out, with mortgage terms over two years at 3 to 4 percent.

Road Fund Test Suit Argued In South Dakota Supreme Court
The South Dakota Supreme Court heard arguments on a test case interpreting how road funds are distributed by the state highway commission. Plaintiffs challenge the agency’s use of assessed valuation as the basis, arguing the law should be followed strictly and that current practices ignore state provisions. The case involves multiple counties and questions of federal and state funding distribution, with the court taking the matter under advisement after oral arguments.
