President Roosevelt spoke to the American Bankers Association urging faster credit flow and endorsing a policy aimed at stabilizing prices and values. He warned bankers are not independent of government and emphasized the government must judge conflicting interests.
Dr John F Condon named Bruno Richard Hauptmann as the man who paid 30000 dollars ransom for the Lindbergh baby. Condon, called Jassie, made the identification after a lengthy talk in Flemington court. Authorities declined to disclose full details citing secrecy. In a separate report a 7 year old farm boy, Lawrence Pierne of Get 25, was electrocuted near Tueton after climbing a pole and touching a 3000 volt line.
Increasing cloudiness and warmer tonight in Huro and Vielulty. Friday remains cloudy. South Dakota forecast shows increasing cloudiness with warmer tonight and Friday, followed by cooler conditions in the extreme west.

Omaha police filed a complaint charging William Maher and Jimmy Mardi, both of Omaha, with the December 22 1931 shooting death of Harry Lapidus. The pair were booked on first degree murder after being arrested Tuesday night. both had been prominent figures in local liquor traffic and the Omaha Aguer conspiracy trial two years prior.
Des Moines report says the fall rain soaked ground and revived scorched pastures and crops in Iowa. Charles D. Reed, director of the Iowa agricultural bureau, notes winter wheat benefits and pastures beginning to green after a hot, dry summer.

MOSCOW October 3 two Soviet officials were executed by firing squads for counter revolutionary activity and sabotage that ruined state property. Kokhan Nikolai chief of Sosnovsky state grain farm and Mikhail Strebkov president of the collective farm were implicated. Nikolai allegedly caused grain loss of 300 tons by drying grain and hiding it in a warehouse. Strebkov, a former czarist officer, was charged with allowing horses to starve and die under his watch.
South Dakota Maccabees gather in Aberdeen for their annual state convention beginning Tuesday Oct 30 with a 7 pm banquet at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and an 8 30 pm program at the Trianon. Registration runs 10 am to 3 pm for Aberdeen members and 2 pm for out of town visitors. Feastmaster John Wade will preside at the banquet as committees led by O B Light and William Cameron, Pierpont, are listed among attendees.
The Association of American Colleges schedules a regional meet October 30–31 at Knox College Galesburg Illinois to discuss college relations with federal state governments and with trust and insurance firms. Huron College will be represented by President Frank J Everstll who will then travel to Chicago for Kiwanis International council meeting and report on leisure time directive use.
Pierre report says Gov Tom's campaign event in Tatertown drew the largest single-night turnout in state political history, setting records for Democratic headquarters observers. Officials praised the crowd as a historic show of support for the party’s third consecutive night of big rallies.
At the 16th annual American Legion convention in Miami Florida the vote backed immediate cash payment of veteran bonus certificates by the government. The roll call showed New York 81 opposed while Pennsylvania 73 California 6 Illinois 77 Massachusetts 42 Michigan 33 and other states supported payment. Adoption followed brief debate as boos and cheers echoed through the hall.
