Snow fell early yesterday in Huron with about two inches measured by the weather bureau. The temperature dipped to 20 degrees around 8 am, rising to 32 by noon. Birds perished due to the cold, with officials noting a likely species similar to the long spur.

Wheat Prices Hit New Record Lows

Wheat prices fell to new record lows amid Liverpool bearishness with December contracts sliding to 3-4 cents and later to 4 3 8 cents a bushel. Advices from Liverpool indicated US dispatches were discouraging and buyers withdrew as Chicago sellers faced muted demand. December wheat also touched 45 1/2 cents at Winnipeg.

Searching Parties Push Hunt For Men Stranded In Storm

In Cheyenne Wyoming on October 3 a two man party remained missing after a blizzard in the Big Horn mountains. Rescue teams free through deep snow found one body, Dillon McKinnon of Greybull. Fred Deminel and Dell F Yoakum with McKinnon were not yet located. Mrs Russell Huddleston of Billings reported her brother Everett Carnell and Arthur Rogers also missing with a third man unnamed as they hoped to return October 1.

Air Campaigners Delayed By Crash in Chicago

Two elderly pilots known as the flying grandmothers continued their Hoover campaign after their plane cracked in a forced landing near Chicago. Slightly injured but undeterred, Mrs H Foster Bain 58 and Mrs Samuel Dolbear 50 planned to press to Iowa City in a commercial aircraft. The ship damaged in a weed-filled ditch after a forest preserve touch down, both wings broken and fuselage damaged. Mrs Bain, licensed pilot since 1930, kept a steady attitude about the incident.

Missionary Nelson Reported Slain by Bandits in China

American consul reports unconfirmed but likely account of Lutheran missionary Bert Nelson of Minneapolis killed by bandits after nearly two years as prisoner. Chinese refugees say he was slain two months earlier as bandits fled advancing forces. Nelson kidnapped Oct 5, 1930, in Kwangshan Henan province after captors demanded 100,000 in gold.

G E Brownell about 33 of De Smet was killed and Ed O Connor 48 of Akron Ohio severely injured when their auto left the road on a downhill curve near McIntosh Sunday evening Brownell was pinned under the wreck and died at the scene O Connor said he jumped from the car before the crash Brownell had a wife and a son Robert a pupil at St Anne s school Humboldt survives the family and his three years residence in De Smet were noted He had worked on highway projects in the area.

Arm Amputated After Gunshot Wounds

Edwin Neubarth an 18 year old from Virgil Jooy suffered the loss of his left arm below the elbow after a gun exploded while he rode a wagon Saturday. He was brought to Huron hospital and his physician reports his condition satisfactory.
