Sioux City Oct. 25 Stan ley Garoutte alias Joe Stanley escaped from the county jail at gunpoint this morning. He was captured an hour later by a deputy sheriff. Garoutte is held for Oakland California officers expected to come for him in a few days. He faces a life term for forgery and had two prior felony convictions. About 7:30 he robbed jailer A J Eversviller of $10 after locking him in a cell. He claimed the revolver was his since arrest years ago but officers say it was smuggled to him.
