REW Railroad Wins Interstate Approval for Securities Issue

Aberdeen Oct 25 Nothing now blocks completion of the Mound City and Eastern railroad as the Interstate Commerce Commission approves a 2 100 000 securities issue to fund the project. W W Kaley of Leola president says 18 miles of steel already laid between Leola and Lone Lake with Minneapolis financiers and local subscriptions funding the work. Local subscription in Leola and Mound City areas reportedly totals 200 000 with 4 cent preferred non voting stock already listed.

Retailers fined by state in Pierre crackdown

Pierre reports multiple state fines for tobacco tax stamp violations. Katherine Tosen Stevens in charge of un stamped cigarettes fined 50 with stock confiscated. Tusol and Yale fined 50, stock seized for unstamped cigarettes. Akens fined 23 for Bab cock test manipulation. Jake Haak fined 10 for hotel license issue. Burton fined 10 for unlicensed operation. Petrified Bones Found In Hills By Local Discoverer

In the Black Hills near Pilger mountain, Thomas Fonwick discovered petrified bones while searching for mineral clay. He found vertebra fragments about six inches long and other skeletal parts all petrified, suggesting an ancient animal once roamed the area.

Groton October 24. Corn husking season is in full swing with many fields opened and a larger share of the crop cut and shocked. Early indications show corn going to the store under favorable conditions. Producers report an average yield around 26 bushels per acre.
