Mitchell Oct 24 The State Association of County Commissioners closed its 26th annual meeting by elevating Olaf Blake Centerville to the presidency and naming Hot Springs as the 1941 convention city Yerby Land Perkins County board member was named vice president and Jesse M Smith Gayville was re elected secretary treasurer County highway superintendents moved Lee E Craft Fall River County to succeed Hold Joint Meeting At a joint session the group approved resolutions to simplify tax deed title acquisition and to classify county owned tax deed lands and lease and sell them They urged the legislature to require state purchase of all trunk highway materials rather than county purchases and asked for regulation of road houses outside corporate limits They seek to change the statute to let counties establish regulate and control such places with appeal to the circuit court They approved a petition to the Department of Agriculture Surplus Marketing Administration for a minimum schedule for plan participants Under a five point plan the commissioners want preservation of county units progress toward centralized government cooperation with national and state departments high service standards free from partisan politics and exchange of ideas to aid local problems

Retiring Cheyenne Indian Agency Head Honored At Banquet
Walter F. Dickens longtime Cheyenne Indian agency superintendent was feted at a Aberdeen three day social workers conference banquet as his retirement plans to take effect November first. Dickens 40 years in Indian service served in Wyoming Oklahoma Minnesota Wisconsin and South Dakota. He led building facility improvements at Cheyenne agency and devised an all Indian male quartet noted for music and costumes. He introduced vocational training in Cheyenne agency schools.
