Retirement of Z D Everson Rocks Farmers Union
Z D Everson of St Charles South Dakota retires as national Farmers Union president after 29 years in the role citing health. The move, seen as easing internal tensions and advancing a constructive agricultural program, follows a heated tenure marked by criticism of federal farm policy and a failed constitutional referendum. Everson says he will farm in Rosebud district Florida. He previously headed South Dakota Farmers Union and served in the state senate.
