About six hundred ninety farm benefit applications from Potter County were sent to the state office at Brookings for auditing and payment from the county office. Checks are expected in November. Acquisition Of Purebred Horses Sparks Interest In Pleasure Riding
Interest in saddle horses for pleasure riding grows in Huron with the Boot & Spur Horse Club. Kenneth H. Butler, co-manager with Glenn Spiller, purchased Kentucky Verdict, a registered American saddle bred stallion, to bolster club enthusiasm and serve as foundation stock for gaited horses. The horse, bred on Holekamp Farm, has shown in South ern shows and will be kept at Barn B in the State Fair Grounds. The Boot & Spur Club, now a leading South Dakota saddle club, invites visitors to view the horses and meet members including the Butler and Brindley families.

December 31 Deadline for Wheat Government Loans
Faulk County farmers face December 31 as the final day to apply for government loans on wheat. Thirty-five storage loans and 584 warehouse loans have been approved on the 1939 crop, totaling 199,108 bushels sealed in local and terminal elevators. Some loans remain pending and a number of farmers have not yet applied.
