South Dakota Officials Delineate Tax and Permit Rules
Delinquent tax collectors lack power to sue for personal taxes. only sheriffs under distress warrants may collect, while county treasurers can sue in civil actions. Statewide opinions also note pharmacists must maintain a local liquor sale presence for one year before permits, and notes from prisoners cannot satisfy fines. Sheriff and state's attorney mileage claims for transporting prisoners are addressed, as is the potential for building and loan associations to act as insurance agents.
