Protests Triggered by Proposed Feed Oil and Meal Rate Hikes
South Dakota officials filed protests with the Interstate Commerce Commission against proposed rate increases on linseed oil from Minneapolis and cottonseed meal and cake from southwestern mills. The state board of railroad commissioners contends current rates are already high and would harm livestock feeders and producers relying on large feed purchases during drought. Shipments into South Dakota are up this year due to drought conditions.
