Eighth grader Mary Reilly reports Vicnland Center School added oil cloth to washstand and tables with a Mexican design on tan background in yellow black green and red. Principal Grace Rudy notes the room looks brighter. The McBride School got a larger towel cabinet with a missing glass centered and new erasers for the blackboard.

Borah School League Plans Purchases and Curtains

Borah School members held a regular meeting with president Norman Meyer presiding. They agreed to buy games and curtains for the schoolhouse using carnival funds. Treats were provided by Carol Licht, Dwain Schwartz, Exnort Keith, and Glen Marshall.

Senior Cheerio Club Etiquette Meeting Seated Officers

The Senior Cheerio Club of Northville met November 18 at the Emil ceden home with president Eileen Bangel presiding. A table etiquette demonstration was led by Eileen Dangel Inez Taylor Donald Ahlgren and Harvey Taylor. A candle lighting ceremony installed new officers and members were served by Mrs William Dangel and Mrs E Freden.

Hiawathas Troop 3 held its regular meeting November 20. Girls opened with the Scout promise and laws, prepared nurse booklets for the badge, and learned about the index. Mrs. Gillespie led the patrol, then some girls visited a symposium for autographs, later pamphlets on Christmas gifts were distributed, and taps closed the meeting.

4-H Club Meeting Plans Lunch for Red Cross Benefit

The farmerette 4-H club met at the leader's home to plan a program for next year with a small fee for admission to aid the Red Cross. Roll call listed favorite desserts. Members contributed to a pot luck lunch. The next meeting is December 15 at the leader's home with lunch contributions requested.

Third Grade Readers Advance at Sheffield School

Russell Maas Elected New YCL President

Russell Maas was elected president of the YCL at Foster District No 3. Joyce Laur became secretary treasurer and Lilias Wip2 was named vice president. The group discussed a November 29 program and carnival. Other items noted include a McNeil School carnival November 24 and Highmore Grade School student Nancy Carpenter earning an excellent rating in the Pierre C S contest with Wallace Murphy receiving a good rating.

Tiger Play To Be Friday Night At Huron High

Huron High School schedules its annual all school Tiger play Life Raging at 16 a teen age comedy by Hilda Manning with Paul Hollis and Frannie Hollis in lead roles. The production features the Secret Seven club plans a ball and a staged shoe store sale culminating in Paul’s expulsion and reinstatement as club president. Meanwhile local notes cover visits in Cavour and Hoskins as families rally around ill relatives.

SIOUX FALLS November 22 47 grasshoppers hatch in the warm autumn weather according to HG Bultena a Lenox businessman visiting here yesterday He recalls a similar year in 1879 when a dry spell led to a surge and a subsequent cold season reduced pests He predicts a near disappearance of grasshoppers statewide next year.
