Wesley Hospital Campaign Aims 50 000 For Brookings Unit
Brookings November 21 preliminary organization forms to raise thirty thousand dollars for a new addition to Wesley hospital the former Dakota Deaconess hospital now under the South Dakota conference of the Methodist church. The expansion will raise capacity to 49 beds and house administrative offices maternity operating x ray laboratory kitchen and dining facilities. A nurse training school will follow to meet state requirements. A hundred canvass workers will cover the service area from December 2 to 9. Three Methodist hospitals exist in the state at Rapid City Hill City and Brookings.

Emergency graveling on two grade construction projects along U S Highway 14 east of Pierre was completed by the state highway commission. Grading issues and wet weather disrupted traffic, but Rinetches have been gravell ed and a surfacing coat applied across the road crown. Blading will maintain passable conditions with possible snow.

In Pierre on November 21 the state attorney general ruled that South Dakota counties cannot buy school textbooks without an express budget appropriation. Turner M. Rudesill asked if an appropriation was required after funds in the budget were expended.
