Compensation Fee Collections Rise in First Quarter
Pierre November 17 Secretary of State Goldie Wells reported motor carrier compensation fees for the first quarter starting July 1 stood at 136 471 dollars versus 142 463 dollars the year prior. Interstate trucker collections rose from 21 840 to 24 192 dollars for July August September. Twenty three counties showed increased general collections while 41 counties showed decreases. The drop is attributed to drought restricting livestock movement to market and reduced enforcement staffing due to the motor patrol being under the department of justice.
