Free Trip Award For Young Citizens League Contest
Pierre November cash prize of 40 dollars and a free trip to the state presenting will be awarded to the winner of the annual Young Citizens League speech and essay contest. D G Mills announces the awards will be made in cooperation with the state game and fish department and Izaak Walton league. Contest subjects center on the conservation of natural resources including woods waters and wildlife. Only members of chartered F F C L organizations may participate. County district and state prizes will be given, with eleven local chapters producing winning contestants receiving awards. Materials to aid contestants will be sent by the state game and fish department, and the work must be original.
Protection for Inmates Urges State Insurance Reform
South Dakota industrial commissioner F L Perry urged state legislation to extend workers compensation protections to inmates in state institutions. He noted the state already carries such insurance for all employees and argued wards lack means to seek redress. Perry cited a prison injuries case and pointed to Wisconsin and Maryland as models, proposing up to 16 dollars weekly and a 1900 dollar total payable after release.

SLOUX FALLS Nov 14 Federal agents under BE Ul Senn and local officers raided near Lemmon and near Reeder North Dakota seizing a 240 gallon still 75 gallons of moonshine 300 gallons of mash and other evidence from John Muanenger and a 40 gallon still hidden in a barn on C M Cole farm. Cole and Muannger were arrested for North Dakota court prosecution.

Mitchell Nov. 14 Two soloists from California and two from town have been engaged to sing the solo parts in the oratorio The Messiah to be presented by the Mitchell Philharmonic Society on December 15. Bees Stow Away Honey in Lake Andes News Building
In Lake Andes on November 14 the Wave office found bees storing honey in the rear of the building. Workmen lured the swarming insects with smoke then used saw and hammer to harvest about 20 pounds of honey. The bees were then left with a supply for spring activity.
