Automobile Places Education In Reach Of All Report Says
Data from Gang Valley high school show 50 pupils enrolled, four drive daily, totaling 255 miles daily. Average 10.7 miles per pupil with 141 miles on graveled roads and 114 on dirt. Eight country pupils have perfect attendance this year, four resident pupils do. Modern transportation brings secondary education within reach of rural children.

Mitchell November 12 Special John F Robertson pastor of First Methodist Episcopal church Sioux Falls and Dr H C Culver pastor of First Methodist Episcopal church Mitchell were elected to the Dakota Wesleyan university board at the Dakota Conference session. They will take duties at the next board meeting in Mitchell on November 17. The new directors have prior college ties including Robertson’s Lincoln Nebraska church, central to Nebraska Wesleyan. Culver comes from Mt Vernon Illinois replacing J M Walters. Culver had ties to Cornell college and pastored Cedar Falls Iowa State Teachers College area.

Highway Surfacing near Groton Completed
Groton residents report the completion of asphalt base surface work on federal highway number 12, extending westward from the Day county line through Groton for about twelve miles. Northwestern Engineering Co. of Rapid City completed the project early this week, marking the first such surfacing in the region and drawing attention from travelers. If successful, wider use is anticipated to improve road conditions locally.

Buffalo county teachers sign up for a five hour contemporary history course arranged through Northern normal school Aberdeen. Group meetings will occur through the year with a lecturer at least twice. Most teachers take the course for credit and to renew certificates.
