Sioux Falls reports a high of 38 and low 29 with .6 precipitation and good roads in cloudy conditions. Rapid City records 92 to 22 with .1 inch precip and clear roads. Watertown sees 36, 25, no precip and good roads with some clouds. Aberdeen 40/25 with no precip and cloudy, roads fair. Huron 87/29 with no precip and cloudy, roads fair. Yankton 41/31 with .05 precip and fair roads, light snow. Mitchell 38/33 with .3 precip, cloudy and fair roads. Pierre 37/28 with .11 precip and cloudy roads.

Walton Izaak Walton League seeks lake project aid

A request to immediately enlarge the drainage ditch and raise the dike to channel flood water from Foster Creek into Lake Byron was sent to the State Game and Fish Commission by J Calendine secretary of the Huron Izaak Walton league. The motion passed unanimously at the league’s last meeting, though locals note the improvements may have limited value.

Lake level rise proposal linked to flood diversion plan

A Walton League committee outlines a plan to raise the lake level by diverting flood water from Foster Creek away from lowlands and toward the lake. Harry Thomas and Louis Crabe head a committee including O. D. Dunbar C. G. Walker BE Lockridge and Roy Cave to organize a Wal tonian school essay contest. The plan aims to pick a state winner then a national winner each school year with kickoff on November 1. A separate committee investigates Camp Da Ko Tah dam projects with Da Ko Tah Boy Scout camp grounds in the Huron area to decide league support and a possible resolution to the state game and fish commission. a report will be presented at the next meeting.
