Pushcart Owner Refuses To Quit Cart For Police
Detroit patrols tried taking Arthur Levy to hospital after a car struck him and his battered pushcart. He refused to part with the cart, riding to the station and begging officers to lock it in a cell while he lay unconscious. Hospital attendants said he would recover.

Glencross Bank Bandit Freed After Acquittal
Melvin Scranton the Glencross bank robber acquitted by a Timber Lake jury after testimony claimed he was duped and in a drunken stupor during the July 28 holdup. Two accomplices were killed in the ambush by P. J. Schirber and Sheriff Henry Johnson. Scranton was wounded and survived. The state’s attorney said no charges would be pressed. Jury deliberated about three hours after late plea closings.

Drunken Man Dead In His Cell At Pollen Headquarters
PETROIT Nov 1 4 Two hours after William Jones a 4 walked into a pollen headquarters and asked to be locked up as the player of Gerald E Jerry Buckey radio announcer he was found dead in his cell with severe head injuries. Police say he was intoxicated and probably fell from a bench in the Golden Boule bullpen where he was placed. The provocator's office investigates his death. Jones was intoxicated when he appeared at headquarters last night. He had no connection with Buckley and no apparent injuries on arrival. Post mortem ordered and medical exam showed probable concussion of the brain.

State Corn Crop Is Set At 79,252,000
