General Tasker Howard Bliss, age near 77, veteran of 42 years and war time Chief of Staff, died after intestinal illness. He will be buried at Arlington with distinguished pallbearers including Pershing, Baker, and House. His career included Chief of Staff, Allied War Council member, and key adviser at Paris. Mrs Gagnon Slays Wolf With Axe In Ontario
In Sault Ste Marie Ontario on November 10 Mrs A E Gagnon killed a wolf with an axe near a snare. The wolf had been howling and woke Frank Rellcks and led to Mrs Gagnon seeking out the animal at W Massey’s place where the trapped wolf was found. She approached behind the wolf then struck a frontal blow and ended the attack.

One Killed Five Hurt In Crash Near Vermillion
A head on collision three miles east of Vermillion left Glen Robinett of Scobey Montana dead from a crushed skull and body injuries. His wife sustained head cuts while their baby was uninjured. Car occupants Joe and William Marking of Sykeston North Dakota suffered head wounds. Truck drivers Edward and Joseph Divis of Niobrara Nebraska sustained body injuries. The Divis brothers were jailed by Sheriff James Partridge as investigation continued. The crash occurred on a straight highway before daylight as occupants sought work moving from North Dakota to Missouri. Divis claimed he did not see the car. All injured expected to recover.

Mrs Schenk Buried In Erwin At Lake Preston
Funeral services for Mrs Elizabeth Schenk who died Thursday in Sioux Falls were held Sunday. The body was brought from Lake Preston to Erwin for the burial beside her husband. She was 76, survived by one son William J Schenk of Bryant and four daughters including Mrs Coulson, Mrs Brough, Mrs Crawford, and Mrs Newport, plus 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral ministers were Rev Evans and Rev Cussman.

Sheriff's Posse Shoots Rustler at Esler Ranch
Belle Fourche dispatch says Wayne Welby an alleged cattle rustler and fugitive was shot and killed by a Butte county Sheriff's posse after drawing a weapon at the Gil Esler ranch near Reva Harding County. Deputy Short fired the fatal shot as the pursuit ended and Welby died almost instantly. Several accomplices were later convicted at Bison. The posse included J O Twiford C B Seward Arthur Richie and A H Blackburn others. Welby’s body was sent to Bison for burial with funeral planned there Wednesday.

University students hurt in car crash near Beresford
Richard Stevens and Helen Miller, both from Sioux Falls, sustained severe cuts and bruises in an automobile accident near Beresford. Stevens, a University of South Dakota sophomore, and Miller, a Vermillion junior, were returning from weekend visits when their car collided with one carrying two Inwood men. The Stevens vehicle rolled over multiple times and was wrecked.
