Hope To Save Sight In Eye Cut By Knife
A two year old girl, Phyllis Elvick, sustained a deep eye wound when a knife fell from a dresser and pierced her eye while her mother, Mrs M F Elvick, was in the yard. Doctors at the local hospital performed surgery to save the eye. prognosis depends on whether recovery is successful. The accident occurred Tuesday afternoon.

PIERRE Nov 1 The state pardon board met today but no decisions on applications were expected because of the absence of Attorney General M. Sharpe. The board planned to hear cases and delay rulings until Sharpe could review them, hindered by bad roads. Among the applications for hearings was Joe Forente, sentenced to life imprisonment.
Hunter Mistakes Axe for Moose Antlers Fatal Shot
Middleton Nova Scotia reports a hunter Charles Adams shot and killed Oloian Johnson at Alkins Lake near here. Adams, believing the axe seen in a clump of alders was a moose antler, fired a heart strike. Johnson, a father of seven, died. Adams collapsed and was hospitalized. It is Nova Scotia's first hunting fatality this season.
