4 H Clubs Plan Project Tours
4 H clubs across the state arrange June and July tours led by county agents and local leaders. Tours visit member homes and notable farms gardens to observe methods and results. Scout Camporees Schedule Announced Across Central South Dakota
The first camporee of the season was held May 28 27 at Hiddenwood near Canning with 13 patrols from seven Pierre district troops. Four more camporees are planned at Johnsons ranch near Frankfort Sicklers gulch near Wessington Springs Ritter grove near Huron Camp Da Ko Tah near Miller with 5 p m start times and 1 p m finish. Twenty events include meals inspections campfire and discipline. Visitors welcome. Troop 30 Canning won first place at Canning with 169 per patrol, Troop 40 Pierre second with 164, Troop 37 Pierre third with 151. other troops were 43 Onida 38 Brunt 31 and 27 Pierre. New scoring method requires participation in each event for a high score.

Leaders Conference Held In Aberdeen
Nineteen local leaders attended a four H Leaders conference in Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon. Leaders of Home Craft Canning Clothing and Foods clubs received information and help. Miss Beulah Rodgers assistant state club agent discussed 4 H club demonstration principles and 4 H club camp plans. Exhibits included shoes and clothing with demonstrations of correct garments. Florence Gardener Aberdeen gave demonstrations and attended the state champion team at the State Fair, and noted plans for the Natural Club congress in Chicago in December.

Boy Scout Troop Builds Driveway for Parsonage Garage
Nine Boy Scouts from troop 2 Wessington Springs hauled sand and gravel to build a new driveway for the Methodist parsonage and Rev Blackburn’s garage. Using a trailer and wagon behind the pastor’s car, the scouts loaded and unloaded about 15 loads under Rev Blackburn’s supervision.

4 H Clubs Active In Trip Contest In Huron Area
Brooking s May 3 continuing with the program of educations trips started several years ago the business and professional men of Huron are sponsoring trips to the Junior Short Course at State college for 20 H club members in central South Dakota. Clubs in 14 counties are eligible Beadle Hand Spink Clark Kingsbury Linborn Jerauld Buffalo Hughes Hyde Sully Potter Miner Faulle. Winners chosen from clubs that submit news stories of lab activities. The plan, now in its fifth year, has kept 20 members at State College for a week as guests of Huron businessmen. Those who won trips before are not eligible again. A record is kept of clubs supplying stories to Mrs Evelyn Hartnagel editor of Affairs of Young Folks. Others do provide trips but none on such an extensive scale as Huron territory.
