A gathering at the George Hill home honored Everett Hill and Lou s Hadeler on furlough and Roy Hill who left for military service. Hadeler, in the Army, returns Friday while Everett, in the Navy, left Monday.
National Officer Elsie Newill Honored in Huron Dinner
Mrs. Elsie Howard Newill of Memphis, national president of the Auxiliary United Spanish War Veterans, was guest of honor at a mezzanine dinner in the Marvin Hughitt Hotel. Attendees from across South Dakota included Department officers and past presidents. speeches praised the Auxiliary and veterans service, urging unity in the war effort. Newill then visited tea in Huron before continuing her official tour to Illinois and Washington, marking South Dakota as her 38th state.
