Inland Air Lines Pay Boost for Mail Route Increase

The Civil Aeronautics Board raises air mail pay for Inland Air Lines on the Cheyenne Wyoming to Great Falls Montana route and the Cheyenne to Huron route. Effective August 6 1941 Inland will receive 39.68 cents per aircraft mile for base mail weight of 0 pounds, up from 33 cents and 83 1 3 cents respectively.

British Submarines Sunk 12,000 Tons of Shipping

British submarines have sunk 12,000 tons of shipping in the Mediterranean and damaged two other ships, the Admiralty announced tonight. The damaged vessels included two medium supply ships later beached in sinking condition and a large supply ship described as seriously damaged. The total number of ships sunk was not disclosed.

John Barrymore Funeral Set Quietly in Los Angeles

Funeral services for John Barrymore will be held Tuesday in Los Angeles with 33 invited attendees including two former wives Elaine Barrie and Dolores Costello. Father Jatin O'Donnell of the Immaculate Heart Church will officiate the Requiem Mass. The actor was reported to have been brought back into the Catholic faith shortly before his death Friday night.
