Levi F Roberts hosted a movie birthday event for his daughter Jo Ann on her eighth birthday with over 300 children attending the Late Miss Nobody screening starring Jane Withers. Each child took a tandy bar home as a treat. Laura Lou Grigg celebrated her 11th birthday with Lois Decker, Donna Oehler, Gladys Rudine, and Phyllis Christensen as guests.

In Redfield on Thursday an area sustained high winds that toppled one side of a fireman's practice tower behind the hall. The tower housed a siren and dummy windows used for rescue drills, with adjacent barn shells blown away but causing little damage. Moisture later arrived, seen as a good sign for crops.

Rockham May 4 Special Rockham High School will hold its seventh annual commencement in the Methodist Church on Wednesday evening May 26. The program honors nine seniors with the theme The life and Work of General W. H. H. Beadle as part of a state centennial observance. Valedictorian Clara Van Ahn and salutatorian Mildred Tjarks lead talks with other students, and diplomas will be presented. Decorations feature royal wine and silver, and American Beauty roses.

Redfield seniors staged the annual class play titled Regatta on Friday night before a packed auditorium. The production featured a selected senior cast showcasing local talent and marking a highlight of the school year.
