PITTSBURGH May s affiliate won exclusive right to represent 27 000 workers of the Jones and Laughlin Steel Company after the last ballot in an historic federal supervised election counted at dawn. Figures showed total ballots 24412 for the steel workers organizing committee 1023 not in favor 727 blank 315 challenged votes. Two plants voted Aliquippa and South Side Mills with about 91 percent voting. Lewis chair issued a peaceful democratic note and urged workers to apply themselves to duties with orders ahead.
In Sioux Falls Nesbit, a former Sioux City bartender, faces a murder trial over the December dynamite death of Floyd Parker. Both sides rested after two days of testimony and after a long conference with Judge Medin, closing pleas were set for this afternoon. Nesbit denied involvement as a woman described a terrifying incident, and Nesbit recounted his account under cross-examination. The case continues on page eight.
A May night squall damaged Bonilla area farms with many broken windows and downed trees. Hail, moisture totaling half an inch, and wind wrecked structures including Bea Hansen and Wel tor Parkinson properties. Charles T. Ziegenhsin, 79, died suddenly in Burlington Iowa.
Watertown reports a severe hailstorm damaging homes as George Nygaard witnessed a duck fall from the sky and die after being struck by hail while attempting to fly away. The event occurred during one of the heaviest storms in years in Watertown.
A Beadle County committee is to meet tomorrow at 2 pm with the county board to craft a forage seed money program for farriers in financial need. A survey showed about 1000 dollars may be required. loans would be repaid this fall or by work if a crop fails. A four-farmer Beadle County group joined the effort to finalize the plan in the commission chamber.
Washington reports indicate the House defeated a Belleau led proposal to fund relief with 5 billion for 1838. Administration aims to enshrine a forty hour week and a 40 cent minimum wage this session while Hopkins guides relief through the House. Roosevelt weighs flood control funding against the budget as relief labor efforts focus on cities in need.

Miss Ella McIntire Huron College registrar recalls Ada Carey a well liked dorm resident at Elizabeth Vorbecy who worked to support herself and had completed a two year normal course before teaching in rural schools She had a younger sister Mrs Kenneth Paterson also connected to Huron College now living in Blunt.
Frank Hiatt, a Huron drug salesman, arrived at the overturned auto near Agar north of Onida and Ada Carey of Blunt was found injured. He reported seeing four ditch intrusions by a car driven by two Chicago youths before fleeing. He assisted the victim and summoned help, noting blood and a moan but uncertain attacker intentions. The sheriff and doctor were summoned as authorities investigated the brutal incident.
J B MacMillan RA director reviews agency achievements over two years at a dinner and dance in Huron for the Resettlement Administration second anniversary. About 175 people from across the state praise subordinates and note drought has hampered progress while normal crops will restore rehabilitation efforts.
Ada Carey a 28 year old school teacher was shot and beaten during a hitchhiking hold up near Onida. Chicago youths Norman Westberg 17 and Howard Christenson 16 admitted the attack and were charged with snucder. Westberg admitted firing but claimed the gun discharged accidentally.
