Social events and meetings fill midweek schedule

A crowded slate lists gatherings hosted by Sabot ofarec, Women’s Order of Mooseheart, First Methodist and Christian churches, Nighters, WLC, Pythian Sisters, and local clubs. Activities include dinners, teas, lectures, card parties, and charity luncheons across several addresses led by Mrs. Blystone, Mrs. Stowell, and other organizers.

Wessington Springs Socials Host Luncheon Bridge and Clubs

Mrs Earl N Ross hosted a 1 PM luncheon honoring Mrs E Carlson with spring bouquet decorations and two tables of bridge. Guests included Mrs E R Buck Mrs Fred N Dunham Mrs H F Jansen and others. Women’s groups from Congregational and Methodist churches met for Bible study bandages and washcloths for African missions plus a medicine study and musical program. Royal Neighbors hosted mothers at the lodge.

City Briefs touch recital luncheon and visits across towns

Robert and Bryan to sing in a recital tonight. A public luncheon at the Catholic church basement on Wed May 24 offers steamed chicken and sides for 75c. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McMahon and children visited Mitchell with Mrs. McMahon’s parents Mr. and Mrs. John Iner. Wanda Mae will visit there for a week. Helen Harty and Sister Cora Martin, formerly principal of Jefferson, are noted. Floral ads and other local notices appear.

Local church youth group meets at Maw Hinney home

The Baptist church youth class gathered Monday at George Maw Hinney’s home for a business and social evening. Rev W Helwig and Mrs Helwig attended a Tuesday birthday party at Jake Fuerst’s home for Mrs Fuerst, her son, Mrs Helwig, and Stanley, all born on Tuesday. Dorcas society met Wednesday at the Congregational church with Mrs Hurley and Mrs Raabe hosting a farewell program for Mrs Carson. Barbara Jane Garson and Arlene Rats gave readings, Mrs Cook accompanied on piano, and Mrs Robinson presented Mrs Carson with a Bible class gift. a lunch followed.
