Wheat Growers Report Losses Across 2261 Acres

Wheat crop losses on 2261 acres were reported to the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation. Twenty policy holders submitted notices. average coverage was 73 percent of normal yield and land covered averaged 76 acres. Total paid in indemnities equals 3866 bushels with 13332 bushels to be returned. Each policy holder paid and will receive net values around 10 and 335 bushels respectively.

Opens Auto Repair Shop By Robert McMahon

Robert McMahon, formerly with the Saunders Motor Company as a mechanic, announced today the opening of an automobile repair shop at 165 Dakota Avenue South in the rear of Smithy Cleaners. The shop will specialize in repair and overhauling of Buick and Pontiac cars.

George L. McNamara, a South Dakota Standard Oil employee and World War veteran, was elected commander of William Reaves post American Legion at the annual meeting. He will be installed next fall. other officers include William Fliss view commander George Olson alance officer re-elected Joe Reilly sergeant of arms re-elected B B McClaskey historian re-elected and Rev Leonard H Camp chaplain. Plans include a special train to the state Legion convention August 28 29 30 and Memorial Day Flag Day observances. Boy Drowns At School Picnic In Timber Lake

At Timber Lake, Merlin McGuire, 15, drowned Thursday afternoon during a school picnic as classmates watched from the shore. He was in a boat with two other students when he disappeared after slipping below the water. Volunteers searched six and a half hours before recovering the body at about 5:30 p.m.
