Guy G De Shon a South Dakota newspaperman and former Redfield Chamber of Commerce secretary took his life yesterday after leaving a suicide note. The body was found near the State Fairgrounds at about 3 45 PM. Coroner PS Walsh ordered an inquest. The letter to his family cited financial woes and feelings of failure and urged his wife and two daughters to remember him as a loving father and husband.

Youth Hero Stops Runaway Horses On Third Street

A high school junior, Schubert Ruble, risked his life to stop a pair of runaway horses pulling a wagon on Third Street. He clung to the wagon, slowed it, and guided the team toward an alley by City Hall, narrowly avoiding collisions as onlookers, including two children, escaped unharmed. Mob lynches unruly grocer after jail altercation

After a shop dispute, M G Romey a grocer was dragged from the jail and lynched two miles south of Lakm Cuey, La. Chief John Balser was wounded and Mrs Romy fatally wounded in an exchange with police. Romey’s body with bullet wounds lay in a ditch as a coroner's jury was convened.

Capone and associate jailed for concealed weapon in Philadelphia

Alonso Capone known as Scarface Al and his Chicago ally Frank Cline were sentenced to one year in county prison after pleading guilty to carrying concealed weapons. Police actions led to their removal as a menace, with both men arrested after leaving a movie house and found in possession of a pistol.

Kelley Laundry Head Re-elected at South Dakota Convention

L A Kelley of Sioux Falls was re-elected president of the South Dakota State Laundrymen’s Association at its annual convention in Waterown. George Mellenz of Yankton became vice president, with N Tiffany of Aberdeen as secretary and treasurer. The next meeting site was left to the executive committee and invitations were extended to join the Tri-State Laundrymen’s convention for North and South Dakota and Minnesota. The event proceeded as an annual affair despite smaller attendance.

House Votes to Send Debenture Plan to Conference

On May 17 the House voted 249 to 119 to send the farm relief measure to a conference committee.
