Rural Debt Refunding Plan Nears Completion in South Dakota
Pierre May 9 Director Milard G Scott of the state rural credit board announced the levelest service plan for refunding the rural credit debt is about 7 percent complete. More than 14 million dollars in bonds will be retired through the series authorized last December totaling 29.4 million dollars. Out of 18 million dollars of outstanding bonds available for exchange only 6.239 million remain to be exchanged to finish the program. The underwriting group will advertise its first exchange offer Thursday. The refunding bonds will mature between 1980 and 1959 and carry the same rate as the exchanged bonds until their maturity with 3 percent thereafter. Completion will allow an annual payment of about 2.5 million to cover interest and principal when due and retire the debt.
