State Laws Bar Sunday Baseball
Pierre May 7 Although South Dakota permits Sunday pictures only with reservations, it bans commercialized Sunday baseball. Lawrence Fox state historian told the Hooves commission that the attitude toward Sunday observance is to be recorded. He notes the 1997 law is not enforced, allowing Sunday baseball and moving pictures of dramatic performances. Local authorities have barred either or both in some communities amid elections on the issue. Fox sent his information to the Institute of Social and Religious Research in New York City.
