New Farm Body Faces Task After Split in Farmers Group
DES MOINES May 6477 A complete program for the national committee of farm organizations formed yesterday by dissenting delegates to the sixth annual convention of the Comm Belt federation was the question before the initial meeting of the new group today. The new body, about 20 middle western farm readers, claimed to represent three fourths of the original membership and backs the federal farm marketing act and the federal farm board. Delegates who withdrew said the move aimed to force commitment against the act and toward politics. The remaining delegates elected officers and condemned the federal farm board Hawley Smoot tariff and Hoover administration. Regulating grain futures trading, not elimination, is urged by Dr Z W Duvel, chief of the grain futures administration, who favors limits and hedging to stabilize prices but warns of low trading volume unless costs are covered.

In Burbank California on a foggy night two Pacific Air Transport mail pilots Starbuck and Parmalee were killed when their plane wrecked on a mountainside eight miles north of the city. They were flying San Diego bound mail and did not report trouble. Parmalee had four years with Pan American Airways, both men were married with one child. Starbuck resided in Los Angeles and Parmalee in Oakland.
