Elopement Plot Spirals in Long Island Picnic Chaos
Beryl Borden schemes to stop Irene Everett from eloping with Tommy Wilson by abducting him during a family fishing trip. Tommy resists, driven by plans to wed Irene after college, while Aunt Emma Hoffman schemes with her picnic party and Uncle George resists. The chapter follows a tense chase, road trip, and beachside mishaps as tensions spill over and a younger boy encounters danger in the water.
