Pierre March 27 county treasurers may issue receipts for ordinary real property taxes before prior special assessments or deferred drainage installments have been paid in Attorney General M. Q. Sharpe's opinion to Mingehaha county's state’s attorney G. Norton Jameson. Gettysburg March 27 crowds packed the Potter County courthouse for a school land lease sale. Of 5 348.71 acres offered, 29 799.92 acres were leased for hay and grazing generating 4 315.67 in revenue. Grazing bids topped at 1.00 per acre, with several parcels selling at appraisal price and five year leases all settled on sale day. Feeding wheat proves most profitable for farmer
Watertown reports farmer W. G. Putnam of Codington county found feeding wheat to cattle yielded 13 cents more per bushel than selling at the elevator. He says the highest price he could have received was 7 cents per bushel, but after buying cattle and feeding them, selling the cattle returned 10 cents per bushel for his wheat.

WATERTOWN March 27 Preliminary work toward opening the Leke Kampeska hatchery has begun under Robert L Ripple of Rapid City superintendent of fisheries for the South Dakota game and fish commission. A new pumping plant and well have been installed to assure more water. A diesel engine area is planned for emergencies such as last year when storms interrupted power. Canton Plans New Tourist Cabins For Park
Canton will add five single and one double tourist cabin at the Canton tourist park to relieve cabin shortages from last year. A. N. Bransdad, secretary of the Canton chamber of commerce, announced the project after studying Black Hills cabin designs. The plan follows a heavy tourist season that forced travelers to Sioux Falls. Anniversary Fete Marks Early Blairstown Settlement
In Miller area the 1860s settlers began in St Lawrence then moved west to the new town two and a half miles away. J D Miller runs Farmers elevator while Henry Miller and four sons have died. Surviving first settlers plan an anniversary celebration with later arrivals from Blairstown Audubon and surrounding towns joining in 1882. The railroad reached Pierre via Huron in 1880 and Siding Three housed a depot before the newer town grew.
