Pittsburgh March 26 report on a Transcontinental and Western Airlines Silver Bird crash near Allegheny County airport en route Newark to Chicago. The doomed liner plunged after two left turns from 2400 feet, killing 13 aboard including hostess Doris Hammons and several Standard Oil employees. Pilot Lawrence Bohnet attempted to recover but nose-dived into hillside. co-pilot Howard Warwick and Capt Larry Behner survived. Investigations by County Coroner W J McGregor continue.
North Carolina may need to build an electric chair at about 1000 dollars or more for a single execution. Gas executions apply to crimes after June 30 1935 while the chair was dismantled last November. James McNeill, a Black murderer, faced electrocution for a pre June 3 1935 crime after the Supreme Court ruled his initial gas sentence improper. The court denied a new trial and ordered the death by electrocution. Superior judges disagreed on the statute interpretation before the high court ruling.

Washington March 26 Both supporters and opponents of the Roosevelt Judiciary bill opposed any basic compromise such as limiting yearly Supreme Court enlargements to one appointment. Senator Burke Nebraska a leading opponent said adding any judge or year would be less objectionable than six at once but the arguments against the bill apply to naming two or three judges or even one. Senator Minton Indiana an active advocate saw possible provisions changes but no justification for fundamental amendment. Burke voiced a constitutional amendment to retire justices at 78 and fix the court size if nine members, arguing it would harmonize with administration goals without harming respect for the courts. Reno reports Robert Pierre Raskob son of John J. Raskob once Democratic chairman and Delores Harter of Reno will marry in June. Raskob has lived in Nevada for several months and shows interest in mining there.
