Cummins Sells Hunting Car in Desmott Wyoming Trip

Charley Cummins sold his wolf hunting car to George Lousser of Wessington who will drive it to Wyoming to feed sheep on ranges this summer. The specially built vehicle with a Browning shotgun helped him kill wolves in the plains of South Dakota, Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska. He plans another similar car as bounty on wolves returns, spurring more hunts. A separate note reports a large crowd at a Fedora grade school operetta led by Lorraine Lawrence and other pupils despite bad weather.

Plan New Building For Red Owl Store

Desmet residents learn that F. Bouchard who retires from merchandising after selling his shop will erect a Red Owl grocery store block near the town center. Kingsbury County Band Plans Winter Concert

The Kingsbury county band made up of musicians from all parts of the county will give its winter concert in Desmet at the new Ritz theatre Tuesday night in the first presentation. George Christianson reports the theatre opens the following Thursday evening.

Increased interest in cow tuberculosis testing in South Dakota

South Dakota reports growing interest in bovine tuberculosis testing by state and federal agencies as spring approaches. In Perkins and Spink counties many herds await testing. a 26 percent township owner petition rule is highlighted. February reveals 2,281 cattle across 83 herds tested with 2,261 passed and 20 reactors. several counties conducted herd and individual tests with a few reactors found. Hog premiums for February paid in local markets totaled 3,065.48 to 3,065.48 across listed districts.

Lutheran Pastor Accepts Town Call

State to Own Verendrye Plate Site in South Dakota

South Dakota will acquire after July 3 the Verendrye plate site at Ft. Pierre, two lots adjoining the historic location found February 16, 1915. State historian Lawrence K. Fox calls the action of the twentyfirst legislature of signal value for posterity, with plans for a monument by 1943.
